We don't mean to boast (ok, maybe just a little), but we are very proud of Edge of Africa's numerous achievements and awards.

Because we aim to give our volunteers a unique and fulfilling experience in exchange for their hard work and dedication, we have won the 2010 Welcome Award for South Africa's most welcoming tour operator. Only nine categories qualified as providers of consistent, outstanding service and authentic South African experiences. Edge of Africa was also runner up for this award in 2009.And it's country wide!

In 2008, 2009 and 2010, Edge of Africa was voted in the top four of Africas Leading Conservation Companies by the World Travel Awards.

In 2009, Edge of Africa was responsible for the following achievements:

• The launch of a very popular and beneficial African Big 5 Wildlife and Conservation Project .
• The start of our Youth Soccer Clinics has followed with our first Summer Sports Beach Festival for underprivileged communities on 17 December 2009.
• Our volunteers have made tremendous headway with our Reforestation Project in the Kayalethu Township. Most alien invasive species are under control and the development of a Tourism Project is established to benefit the community.
• Due to volunteer involvement in our HIV and TB Awareness Project, stress relief and staff assistance have been great reaching local communities, disadvantaged clinics, home based care and HIV and AIDS education for children and families.
• Two Sinethemba Youth Centre members were picked to represent South Africa in the 2009 Homeless World Cup in Italy! This was a life changing experience for them and we hope to support their aspirations which have resulted from this experience.
• Because of numerous donations from our volunteers and associated organisations we have established a Recycling and Sewing Project at the youth development center.
• We have reached over 12 000 children in disadvantaged areas through our Workshops with Local Kids program. Projects are in the form of Conservation, Ecology, Science and General Community Awareness..all working towards a proactive future.

EDGE of AFRICA is constantly striving to make a real difference and a direct impact on the community and our environment. We thank everyone who contributed towards reaching these goals.
