Volunteering, done right!
EDGE of AFRICA has been guiding positive change in Africa since 2007. Join us on our mission to empower local communities through business development, help us with our food security project and inspire a brighter future with exciting educational programs for local kids.
Our environmental restoration programs will take you to some of the hidden secrets of the Garden Route as together we work to minimise the effects of climate change and plastic pollution.
When you volunteer with us in Knynsa, South Africa you will not only experience the breath-taking beauty our area has to offer but you will learn about our ethical approach to working towards a sustainable and brighter future for its citizens.
Our volunteer program welcomes people who are enthusiastic about making a difference in the world and who want to learn about how to do that ethically and then apply those practises in your daily life. When you sign up, we take into consideration the skills and experience of each participant, then we build the program to make sure that your goals align with our long term aims. Our program focuses on both community enrichment and the environment so your days will be varied and full. We run programs for Schools (we are certified to provide the President’s Award Program/ Duke of Edinburgh), University Abroad Programs, Corporate Groups and friend/family groups.
You can expect a diverse and interesting experience, with time spent getting to understand our approach to sustainability and meaningful volunteering. Our projects are built to meet the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals which means that ‘ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.’
