Medical & Healthcare Volunteer Programs
Access to healthcare is an ongoing challenge in the poorer communities of Africa. Transport to doctors/clinics and basic healthcare education are lacking in many instances.
At EDGE of AFRICA we have two grassroots medical healthcare volunteer programs that deal with these issues.
Through our Medical Volunteer Program we work alongside local specialists to provide some of the most rural and disadvantaged communities in Uganda with access to medical support. This includes working in a hospital, visiting surrounding clinics and conducting home visits to care for people who cannot reach the clinic.
This program is ideal for medical students and professionals to gain insight and experience in the field of healthcare in Africa. You do not need to be a medical professional to join this program as you will be welcomed and supervised by qualified professionals who will put your skills to good use depending on your experience.
Our program in South Africa will give those with an interest in HIV/AIDS prevention, nutrition and social healthcare challenges, experience in these fields. You will gain practical experience in dealing with every day healthcare problems through our various community outreach programs.
We have opportunities that are relevant to all levels of medical experience and qualification, and can also assist with academic credits.
